Notes |
- Immigration 24 Jun 1838 Sailed from Gravesend on board the `Maitland`, Arrival in colony 06 Nov 1838, Quarantine Station, North Head, New South Wales, Australia On board ship 'Maitland' -------------------- === GEDCOM Note === In 1863 Edward Sonter was granted a tract of 40 acres of river flat at what is now known as Keith Hall and he settled there soon after with his wife and five children. He erected a hut and the family became pioneer settlers of the district. In the later years he acquired more land and eventually occupied a vast tract of country stretching across to the beach. There is no record of the childrens schooling but it is possible that they were taught by Mrs O'Conner as she conducted the only available schooling at the time.
