- Nepean Times (Penrith) Sat 6 Jun 1931 Obituary MR. R. TUXFORD Mr Robert Tuxford, a life-long resident of Penrith, died in Nepean District Hospital on 24th May, at the age of 69 years. Deceased had been ailing for about two months, and had been an inmate of the Hospital for some weeks. He was a bachelor, and was well known in the district. He served his time as a butcher, with Mr Butler, whose business was in High Street, opposite the site of Nepean Picture Theatre. He leaves one brother, Mr J. Tuxford, of Springhill (Orange district), one sister, Mrs E. Besley (Sydney), and five step-sisters—Mrs J. Field (Woodriff Street, Penrith), Mrs E. E. Fragar (Penrith), Mrs Hollier (Katoomba), Mrs Gore (Melbourne), and Mrs Best (Dulwich Hill). The funeral took place on Monday, 25th May, when the remains were laid to rest in the old St. Stephen's cemetery alongside those of a brother and sister of the deceased. The inscriptions on the old stones read: "John Tuxford, died February 20, 1874, aged 18," and "Sarah Tuxford, died June 21st, 1875, aged 15." The Rector, Rev. H. N. Powys, officiated at the funeral. There were a number of relatives and friends present.
